Services
Sharlene was outstanding!
I purchased a ring that I wanted to have her take a look at - her honesty and assessment of the ring allowed me to make an informed decision on how best to proceed.
The ring ended up being completely reset due to the original poor craftsmanship that Sharlene assessed.
Her reputation is A+++.
Looking forward to working with her again!
I had some pieces I needed to get appraised for insurance purposes.
Sherlene came highly recommended.
She is very professional and also very knowledgable about the jewelry business.

Preparing your jewelry to be evaluated is an important step in the process.
Prior to cleaning, we examine for any loose or missing stones, damage and overall condition.
When examining jewelry that has been enjoyed for a long period of time, we expect to find signs of wear.
This can be minor to severe stone damage, worn or missing prongs, broken ring shanks, scratches or dents in the metal and a myriad of others things.
We will inform you of any of these conditions, make the repair recommendations and then take the proper cleaning mode.

Both metals and stones are tested in order to evaluate your jewelry.
The metal testing is a non-destructive process whereby we make a small scratch of the metal to be analyzed on a testing stone.
The residue is then treated with various acids to determine the karatage.
The testing is done for karat gold, platinum and silver.
Testing is also done with an electronic tester to validate or confirm acid test results.
Stones are tested in a different way.
The most often-used tool is the microscope.
By virtue of the inclusions, a preliminary identification can be made.

Photography is an important part of the appraisal process.
The views are typically top and side but can be of hallmarks and manufacturing stamps, watch movements, serial numbers or as many as needed to properly identify the piece.
The photos are shot using a white background and then enhanced for brightness.
Photomicrographs of the internal or external identifying inclusions or marks in or on major diamonds are included in the reports.
These photos are used to verify lab reports and record the exact position and type of inclusions in stones along with laser inscriptions.
