Among the first gemologists, George Sr., along with the father of Gemology, Robert Shipley, and other Southern California jewelers met on the Campus of U.S.C. to adopt gem ID principals and discuss how to bring that learning to the masses.
These meetings resulted in the formation of the American Gem Society as well as the Gemological Institute of America.
