Ed Spencer, jewelry designer and owner of Skylight Jewelers, has been creating custom jewelry in Boston for over 40 years. His original shop featured a skylight which was the inspiration for the business name. That shop was located on the top floor of the jewelers building, just around the corner from where the store is today. Although the store no longer has a view of the stars, if you look up from inside the showroom you might catch a glimpse of our jewelers working in the loft upstairs.
Spencer's custom jewelry designs reflect his belief that jewelry is a personal statement about its wearer. The inspiration for a piece might comes from his dreams, or day-to-day reality. He designs each custom engagement ring and piece of fine jewelry three-dimensionally. He builds frontward, backwards, inside and out, keeping in mind the person who will choose and wear the finished jewel.
Spencer is passionate about custom designed and handmade engagement rings and wedding bands. Each one that he creates is a unique opportunity to get to know a couple.

Services
Spencer has been creating custom jewelry since 1972 when he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Comparative Religions.
In 1974 he moved his shop out of his living room where he would meet with customers and founded Skylight Jewelers in the center of downtown Boston.
This first shop was located on the top floor of the Jewelers Building, and the skylight that illuminated the workspace also inspired the name for the company.
Over 40 years have passed and Skylight Jewelers is still in downtown Boston only a block away from its original location.

Have you ever noticed how life's most magical moments seem to happen in the presence of the moon?
There's something hypnotic about gazing up at the moon.
You stare at the moon drifting through the night sky and suddenly you feel the possibilities are endless.
There was once a time when it was believed moonstones were captured moonlight.
Moonstones possess a lovely sheen that is produced by light reflecting from layers deep within.
When a moonstone is carved, the light delineates and defines each contour, creating a secondary floating surface illuminated above the stone.
