Katy Bodenburg is the owner and operator of KB Gem & Jewelry Appraisals. A full-time appraiser and gemologist since 2005, Katy has over 25 years of experience in the jewelry industry including retail sales, quality control, jewelry design, repair and gem setting. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Katy is delighted to provide jewelry appraisal services to residents of her hometown.
The appraiser attended the University of Akron and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. During Katy's time working at the bench performing jewelry repairs and setting stones, her interests in the gem world grew immensely. After intensive gemological studies, she was awarded her Graduate Gemologist degree from the renowned Gemological Institute of America in 1997.
Katy is committed to learning and began studying appraisal theory a few years before opening her business. In 2013, she received the "Certified Master Appraiser" designation through the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers; becoming the fourth CMA in the nation.

During the appraisal appointment Katy will perform a full evaluation of your jewelry items and gemstones.
The evaluation consists of a light cleaning, followed by detailed photographs, gemstone and/or diamond identification, weights and measurements, and thorough grading analysis of the gem's cut, color and clarity.
